IMESA decision #35
2025-08-25 09:13:35
We will not offer individual exceptions to IMESA retaining user data from confirmed event registrations.
This is covered by our terms of service as a legitimate interest, given that confirmations are considered binding. For details, see the legitimate interest section of our TOS: https://imesa.org/tos/
We realize that some of our users are uncomfortable with their passport number being stored, and they would rather use their national ID, now that that is a known option. What we can offer is to redact stored registration history without undue delay. That way, users can change their document number to their ID number and then request registration history redaction, and we will delete their passport number in the process.
Of course, after a given event is over, we will be able (and obligated!) to honor all such requests, provided that the registration wasn't false (in which case we may keep it for the purpose of preventing evasion of bans/other punitive meansures for no-shows, again citing the legitimate interest section of our TOS), and provided that we don't have to keep the data for legal reasons (for example, this affects any documents used as the basis for travel/accommodation cost refunds provided by IMESA, and personal data on record at the time the documents were submitted).
